Julie Carter, BSW, MSW, RSW

I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers, and the Ontario Association of Social Workers. I have a Bachelor's of Social Work from Laurentian University and a Master's of Social Work from McGill University.  I have also partially completed a PhD in Social Work from the University of Windsor.

I have worked for over 20 years providing social work services to children and families. During this time, I have worked with children and families in various capacities including as a private practice therapist. I draw on various models of therapy so that the treatment approach is suitable and unique to you.  My primary focus is forming a trusting relationship with the client and creating a climate of hope. I use mindfulness and meditation techniques to assist my clients to bring awareness into the present moment and get in touch with their authentic selves. Additionally, I offer the option of Walk and Talk Therapy as I believe in the benefits of mind and body healing and because not everyone is interested in seeing me in a traditional office setting.

Some of my areas of specialty are:

  • Divorce and separation counselling

  • Couples counselling

  • Parenting children/teens with special needs

  • Working with professional caregivers

  • Working with new parents

  • Working with men

  • Anxiety and Depression

In my free time, you will find me with my twin teenagers and twin boxers. One of my greatest passions is traveling the world with my loved ones.
